I used to have a tendency to wrap my hands around art, and choke the creative life out of it. I over thought, over analyzed and mapped out every angle to an exact final layout, I thought it should be.
This approach doesn’t work! Every session is unique, and a photo shoot takes on a life of its own. If you allow yourself to be a part of it, and just capture what it gives you, you’ll be amazed what it unravels.
A few years ago, in the midst of another artistic transition, I wanted to try this new method. I just wanted to take some photographs without planning every detail. I got one of my makeup artists on board and got an amazing model by the name of Diana Georgie. We’ve worked together before, and I knew she was comfortable with tasteful nudity.
We kept the makeup and hair very minimal and I used natural light, that was bleeding through the windows of my loft. I actually happen to be catching Diana at a difficult period in her life, and her emotions were on the surface. We hung out, talked, and I photographed. Even today, it is still one of my favorite photo shoots.art #artist tips #artistic approach #artistic nudes #black and white photography #Diana Georgie #Los Angeles photographer #Photogenics models #photography #photography tips #portrait photographer #seeing creatively
