I recently did a half day, press photo shoot with French DJ, Norman Doray, that left me absolutely beyond exhausted! It’s crazy because it was a simple, in studio, and on location shoot. However, as I wanted to snag all the cool angles, I became what I like to call a “twizzlers”. Yes, I am talking about the brand of candy. I turned, twisted, crouched, and stretched in so many crazy ways, even my assistant made a comment. Apparently, the behind-the-scenes photos she was taking throughout the session, looked like some insane photographers workout format! She was right. Not only was I laughing my ass off when I saw them, but was feeling some serious after effects. The next day I felt like I was beaten to a pulp. Naturally, it was a satisfying feeling, but also a painful one.
There were a few other sets, like the above, that left me not wanting to get out of bed the next day. Six hour nude beauty shoot in Palm Springs, with a 114 degrees of heat. Recent shoot in Hawaii, where I literally was sweating like a farm animal (I know…awesome visual lol). Similar sweat session during a full day beauty shoot in Texas. However, there, I also had to watch out for scorpions and rattle snakes in the tall grass.
And lastly, an editorial shoot with a rapper at Malibu beach, that left me completely soaked and frozen. The ocean was not exactly warm in the fall. As an added bonus, I brought home half the sand in my ass and in other unmentionable places…
Photographers take a pretty hardcore beating on certain sets. The physical strain, mixed with the constant demand of being mentally and creatively turned on, can definitely whoop your ass! But in the end, the awesome art is always worth it!beauty #behind the scenes #celebrity #entertainment #Los Angeles photographers #Norman Doray #on location photo sets #photography tips #portraits
